WELCOME
Welcome to our beautiful B&B in the historic heart of Benissa.
With its grand palatial homes built and owned by the wealthiest and most influencial townspeople of the past, Carrer dels Desamparats is considered one of the most important streets of Benissa.
Standing at number 13 was the Palacio Benavent, once the home of local writer and composer Ricardo Benavent y Feliu (1848-1929). After his death the property was bequeathed to his sons who divided the house in two. The two newly created homes were then added to the numbers of Carrer de l’Ángel, 6 and 4.
The house at Ángel 4 became abandoned and was left to crumble until the mid 1990s when it was lovingly brought back to life by a new owner. Subsequent owners, ourselves included, have enhanced what was already a beautiful house to make it the boutique hotel it is today.
We hope you will enjoy your stay with us in these wonderful surroundings.
AIR CONDITIONING
Each room has its own heating and cooling air conditioning unit, operated by way of the remote control on the wall.
Heating - provides heating only and is best set on 20/22º
Cooling - provides cool air only and is best set at 20º
Fan
There is also an auto option which operates for hot and cold, maintaining whichever temperature is in the setting.
If you require any assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Please note that the unit takes a few minutes to test temperatures inside and out before setting itself to operational mode.

CELLPHONE COVERAGE
Cellphone coverage can be difficult indoors as this building has 16th century building technology and very thick walls (60cm). However you will find coverage either out in the courtyard or on the street in front of the entrance door.
CLEANING
Your room will be serviced daily, unless you request otherwise. Please indicate your preference using the door tag provided.
Please help us conserve our environment: We will change towels for you only when you have placed them on the bathroom floor.
DAMAGE, BREAKAGES AND MISSING ITEMS
Please take care of our home. You are responsible and liable for any breakages or damages which you cause to the accommodation or its contents.
Please report these as soon as they occur especially if you accidentally spill something – it’s much easier to clean if we know what it is and act quickly.
We do not normally charge for breakages, but we reserve the right to charge for repair or making good if the damage is significant. We reserve the right to charge for missing items.
DEPARTURE
In the interests of ensuring we can have the room ready for the next guests arriving we require guests to vacate their room by 11.00am on the morning of departure.
In some cases it may be possible to extend your checkout time, but this will be absolutely dependent on following bookings, so must be explicitly approved by us.
EMERGENCY
The building is fitted with smoke alarms and fire extinguishers. An emergency evacuation diagram is on the back of the room door for your information.
In case of fire or any other emergency, if it is safe, please make your way down to the ground floor and out onto the street.
If not, stay where you are and call the emergency services number, 112. This is a free call from any phone.
In the event we are unaware of the emergency, alert us directly by using the intercom at the front door. Press in sets of three pulses until answered. If we are out of the building and do not answer, send a WhatsApp message to 711 003 962.
EMERGENCY LIGHTING
The building is fitted with emergency lighting throughout, including in bedrooms and bathrooms which automatically comes on in the event of a power cut.
Do not be alarmed if it suddenly comes on, as momentary / short periods of power loss are quite common in Spain.
HISTORIC AUTHENTICITY
Due to the historic nature of the building (originally built in the 16th Century), and the need to retain its authenticity, you will notice that some things about the place appear old or well used.
Fittings, closures, tiles, wall distortions, some furniture, and other mismatches are largely reflections of history and the way things were made, along with the general wear and tear of the years gone by.
We trust you will embrace the authenticity of both aspects and enjoy the relevant allure of them.
HOT WATER
Because of the age of the hotel building, electricity is our only heating source which means that our hot water at any time is limited by the size of our boilers.
You will notice that the shower taps have two stages, one for regular pressure and the second for a higher pressure.
On the lower pressure you can expect about 12 minutes of hot shower and on the high pressure something closer to half of that. (Times are for total use in the same period)
IN-ROOM BEVERAGES
A variety of complimentary tea, coffee and milk Tassimo pods are provided in each room, along with milk and biscuits. Individual bottled mineral water is in the fridge. All drinks are replenished daily.
Instructions for the coffee machine are provided here.
Mineral water is also available in the glass bottle to top up the coffee machine as required.
Whilst the tap water is quite safe to drink here in Benissa, some people prefer the option of bottled water.
Please also enjoy the Mistela, from a local bodega in Xaló, with our compliments.
KEYS
You have access to the building and your room 24 hours a day during your stay using keys provided to you when you registered on your arrival.
You hold full responsibility for these keys for the duration of your stay. Because they are security coded, any lost keys will be charged for at €20.00 per set.
